The Synology RS1226+ is an 8-bay 2U RackStation NAS for business file sharing, backups and private cloud storage. An AMD Ryzen V1500B processor, 4GB ECC memory and two built-in 2.5GbE ports support everyday workloads across teams and branch offices. Its 306.6mm-deep chassis fits compact rack installations and uses a single power supply. This diskless enclosure requires separately purchased compatible drives.

Highlights

Eight hot-swappable SATA drive bays provide room for hard drives or SSDs. Two dedicated M.2 NVMe slots add SSD caching without using front drive bays. Expand to 12 drive bays with one optional RX426 expansion unit, or add compatible 10GbE or 25GbE networking through the PCIe slot. Expansion hardware and storage media are sold separately.

Reliable hardware for shared workloads

The quad-core 2.2GHz processor supports eight threads. ECC memory helps detect and correct memory errors, and the two memory slots support up to 32GB with compatible matching modules. The short chassis supports two-post mounting or a compatible four-post rack with an optional RKM114 or RKS-02 rail kit.

Files and backups in one place

Synology DiskStation Manager provides a central platform for managing storage and access. Synology Drive supports file access and synchronisation across computers, mobile devices and browsers. Active Backup, Hyper Backup and Snapshot Replication provide options for protecting supported business systems and NAS data. Off-site destinations require separate storage or cloud services; cloud subscriptions are not included.

Choose the right power configuration

Choose RS1226+ for a compact single-power-supply installation. Its chassis measures 88 × 482 × 306.6mm and weighs 6.8kg without drives. The RS1226RP+ alternative offers redundant power in a deeper chassis. Check rack clearance, supported drives and accessory compatibility before ordering.

Surveillance and room to grow

Surveillance Station supports central camera recording and monitoring, with two camera licences included; additional camera licences are sold separately. Synology High Availability can pair two compatible matching systems to reduce service interruptions. A second NAS, cameras, network upgrades and expansion units are not included.

Compatible add-ons

Complete this eight-bay system with ACE NASCare for 5–8 bays, subject to the service terms. Choose RKS-02 sliding rails for a compatible four-post rack, or RKM114 mounted rails where suitable. Check rack dimensions before ordering.

For storage, select supported Synology Plus SATA HDDs or Synology Enterprise SATA HDDs. SNV5420 M.2 NVMe SSDs provide cache upgrades. Choose the exact supported model and capacity from the accessory options; drives and cache are sold separately.

Compatible network upgrades include E10G30-T1 and E10G30-T2 for 10GbE RJ45, E10G30-F2 for 10GbE SFP+, or E25G30-F2 for 25GbE SFP28. These are alternative cards for the single PCIe slot; network cabling and any required optical modules are separate.
