Description

Sixteen PoE+ Connections with Dedicated Gigabit Uplinks

The TP-Link ES220GP is an Omada Easy Managed Gigabit switch for IP cameras, wireless access points and small business networks. Its 16 PoE+ ports share a 150 W power budget, while two non-PoE Gigabit RJ45 ports and two Gigabit SFP slots keep uplink connections separate from powered devices. The fanless metal enclosure supports desktop or rack installation.

Highlights

Power and data over one cable

  • 16 IEEE 802.3af/at PoE+ ports, up to 30 W per port within the shared 150 W budget.
  • Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE support connected devices during switch start-up and reboot.

Flexible Gigabit connections

  • Sixteen PoE+ ports, two non-PoE RJ45 ports and two SFP slots.
  • 40 Gbps switching capacity with fanless cooling.

Practical network control

  • Standalone web management or centralised control through Omada.
  • VLAN, QoS, IGMP snooping and loop protection.

Key Features

Reserve uplinks for network expansion

Two independent SFP slots provide Gigabit fibre uplink options alongside two non-PoE RJ45 ports. All sixteen PoE+ ports remain available for powered devices. Compatible SFP modules and fibre cables are sold separately.

Choose local or central management

Configure the switch through its web interface, or manage it with a compatible Omada hardware, software or cloud-based controller. Omada Central Essentials offers free cloud management. App access and centralised functions require an Omada controller; zero-touch provisioning requires the cloud-based platform.

Keep surveillance devices powered

Fast PoE supplies power while the switch starts, while Perpetual PoE maintains power during a switch reboot. PoE Auto Recovery is available in standalone mode, with IntelliRecover available in controller mode to help restore unresponsive devices.

Reach distant cameras with Extend Mode

Selected PoE connections can reach up to 250 m. Extend Mode reduces the affected ports to 10 Mbps, so use it for suitable camera links rather than high-bandwidth uplinks. Achievable distance depends on cable quality.

Separate and prioritise network traffic

Use tagged VLANs and port isolation to separate traffic, IGMP snooping to manage multicast, and QoS to prioritise important traffic. Loop protection, port mirroring and cable diagnostics support day-to-day troubleshooting. Available settings vary between standalone and controller modes.

Install on a desk or in a rack

The 294 × 180 × 44 mm metal enclosure uses an internal AC power supply. Included mounting brackets, screws and rubber feet support rack or desktop installation. Plan the combined device load within the 150 W PoE budget; the per-port maximum does not apply to every port simultaneously.

Summary

ES220GP combines 16-port PoE+ power with dedicated copper and fibre uplinks for a larger camera or access-point deployment. It suits installations that need straightforward Gigabit connectivity, fanless operation and a choice of local or Omada management.
