Key Features

Build storage around your workload

Populate the six bays with supported SATA SSDs and select a suitable RAID arrangement. This model does not accept 3.5-inch HDDs or use M.2 NVMe drives as bay storage. Usable capacity depends on the SSDs, RAID and formatting.

Faster wired file transfers

The 2.5GbE port can connect to a compatible multi-gigabit switch or computer network. A separate 1GbE port supports additional network configuration. End-to-end speed depends on clients, cabling, drives and the chosen workload.

A private cloud for everyday files

Synology Drive provides file synchronisation and sharing, while Synology Photos helps manage personal or team image libraries. DSM lets you set permissions and access the system using supported browsers and apps.

Plan for recoverable backups

Supported DSM backup applications protect computers, cloud workloads and the NAS itself. Snapshots and separate backup destinations provide additional recovery options. Cloud storage subscriptions and external backup hardware are sold separately.

Compatible storage and memory

The current SAT5221 480GB, 960GB, 1.92TB and 3.84TB SATA SSD models are supported. For memory expansion choose D4NS01-4G 4GB memory and use identical module part numbers when installing modules together. The 7TB drive option is a different generation; confirm its exact part number before ordering.

Optional protection for your installation

The standard limited hardware warranty is 3 years. Eligible EW202 virtual extended warranty can add 2 years of manufacturer coverage, subject to registration and purchase deadlines. ACE NASCare is a separate optional service; its terms apply.
