The RICOH THETA TH-3 HARD CASE is a dedicated protective housing for selected RICOH THETA 360° cameras. Its fitted transparent enclosure helps shield the camera from water droplets, dust and everyday contact while allowing it to remain mounted and operational during professional capture workflows.

The TH-3 supports:

Its enlarged design accommodates these different camera bodies while providing a common protective solution for organisations operating multiple THETA models.

Transparent Polycarbonate Construction

The enclosure is manufactured from transparent polycarbonate, providing a rigid protective barrier without fully obscuring the camera. Its hard-case construction is suited to mobile deployment where the camera may be exposed to moisture, dust or frequent handling.

IPX4-Equivalent Splash Resistance

With all cable openings closed and no USB cable connected, the case provides water resistance equivalent to IPX4. This supports use around water droplets, light rain and other splash-prone environments.

The TH-3 cannot be used for underwater shooting.

Remote Shooting Operation

Camera controls are not directly accessible while the camera is enclosed. Shooting is performed remotely using the RICOH THETA smartphone app or the separately available RICOH THETA Remote Control TR-1.

This supports tripod-mounted capture where the operator needs to remain outside the 360° scene.

USB Cable Access

Dedicated cable openings allow a compatible USB cable to remain connected while the camera is installed. This enables continuous power during longer capture sessions and supports compatible live-streaming applications.

The side opening is designed for the RICOH THETA X, while the lower opening supports the RICOH THETA Z1 cable position.

Water-Resistance Limitation During USB Use

When a USB cable is connected, water droplets or dust may enter around the cable opening. IPX4-equivalent protection therefore applies only when the cable openings are fully closed and no cable is attached.

Live-Streaming Support

The case can support live streaming while a compatible camera remains connected by USB. This is suitable for fixed-position monitoring, remote communication and extended professional video workflows.

Camera settings and firmware requirements depend on the RICOH THETA model being used.

Metal Tripod Socket

A metal tripod socket at the base provides a durable mounting point for compatible tripods, monopods and THETA stands. This supports stable deployment across construction sites, commercial spaces, outdoor locations and live-streaming setups.

Improved Upper-Image Performance

Compared with the earlier TH-2 case, the TH-3 uses an enlarged enclosure designed to accommodate the THETA X and Z1 while improving image quality around the upper section of the captured scene.

Image quality may still be lower than when capturing without the case attached.

THETA SC2 Cable Compatibility Note

The USB cable supplied with the RICOH THETA SC2 cannot pass through the TH-3 cable opening because its ferrite core interferes with the opening. A suitable supported cable is required for powered SC2 operation inside the case.
