Edifier S880DB MKII 88W RMS 2.0 Active Hi-Fi USB and Bluetooth Speaker

Considered Hi-Fi For A More Personal Listening Space The Edifier S880DB MKII brings a dedicated stereo system to a desk, shelf or carefully arranged listening corner. Compact cabinets combine built-in amplification with separate titanium-dome tweeters and aluminium mid-bass drivers. USB-C audio and wireless listening sit alongside analogue and digital connections, so one speaker pair can serve a computer and other compatible sources. An OLED status display, rechargeable remote and app control make everyday operation as considered as the sound system itself. Highlights A Complete Active Stereo Pair 88W RMS total output with dedicated treble and mid-bass amplification. Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Audio Wireless certification. Connections That Fit Your Setup USB-C, optical, coaxial and two RCA line-input pairs. Bluetooth 5.3 with SBC and compatible-source LDAC reception. Sub Out for an optional compatible powered subwoofer. Thoughtful Everyday Control OLED display with automatic dimming and rear-panel controls. Rechargeable wireless remote and EDIFIER ConneX app support. Key Features Dedicated Drivers With Built-In Amplification Each cabinet combines a 1.25-inch titanium-dome tweeter with a 3.75-inch long-throw aluminium-diaphragm mid-bass driver. Separate amplifier channels provide 12W for each tweeter and 32W for each mid-bass driver. The active design removes the need to choose a separate power amplifier, giving you a coordinated stereo pair for music, dialogue and everyday listening. A Direct Digital Connection To Your Computer The USB-C input accepts USB Audio Class 2.0 audio from a compatible computer, with supported sample rates up to 192kHz. Connect the supplied USB cable, select the speakers as the computer output and choose suitable playback settings. Digital resolution depends on the source and signal path; USB-C is an audio connection rather than the power supply for the speaker system. Wireless Listening With A Clear Codec Choice Bluetooth 5.3 provides convenient reception from compatible phones, tablets and computers. LDAC supports higher-resolution wireless transmission when the source device supports and enables it, while SBC provides another supported codec. This lets you choose a convenient everyday connection without assuming that every Bluetooth device sends the same audio format. Flexible Inputs For A Settled Listening Setup Two RCA line-input pairs, optical and coaxial digital inputs accommodate suitable televisions, audio players and other equipment. Choose the input on the speaker or remote instead of repeatedly moving cables. A turntable with only a phono-level output needs an appropriate phono preamplifier before connecting to a line input. Allow space behind the cabinets for plugs and cable routing. Comfortable Control From Your Seat The rechargeable 2.4GHz remote brings source selection, volume and supported playback controls to hand. Rear-panel bass, treble and volume/source controls provide direct adjustment, while the OLED display shows the selected input and dims automatically. Activate the remote with a suitable 5V 1A USB charging source before first use, following the manual. Useful Personalisation Through The App EDIFIER ConneX provides input switching, playback control, preset or customised EQ settings and supported firmware updates. Pair a compatible smart device with the speakers to establish app control. The control connection can remain active when you move to a wired audio input, so personalisation is not limited to a Bluetooth music session. An Optional Route To More Low-Frequency Output Sub Out offers a connection for a compatible powered subwoofer if you want to expand the system later. The subwoofer and any required connecting cable are separate purchases. The two supplied cabinets remain a complete stereo system, with the active cabinet connected to mains power and linked to the passive cabinet by the supplied speaker cable. Summary Choose the Edifier S880DB MKII when compact cabinet size needs to sit alongside flexible audio connections and considered control. It suits a computer-based listening space or a small stereo setup with several compatible sources, with built-in amplification today and a subwoofer connection available for a later expansion. Frequently Asked Questions Does USB-C power the speakers as well as carrying audio?ExpandCollapse No. USB-C carries digital audio from a compatible computer. The active speaker still needs its mains power cable, and the supplied speaker cable links it to the passive cabinet. Will every Bluetooth device use LDAC?ExpandCollapse No. LDAC requires a source that supports and enables that codec. Compatible devices can use SBC instead; the Bluetooth version alone does not establish LDAC support. Can I add a powered subwoofer?ExpandCollapse Yes. Sub Out connects to a compatible powered subwoofer, purchased separately. A suitable additional audio cable may be needed. The supplied pair also works as a complete stereo system. How do I activate and charge the remote control?ExpandCollapse The manual specifies a 5V 1A USB charging source to activate the remote before first use. A charger is not listed among the supplied items. The remote then controls the speakers over its 2.4GHz wireless connection. What should I check before connecting by USB or optical?ExpandCollapse For USB, select the speakers as the computer audio output. The manual requires a driver for Windows 8 or earlier. For optical or coaxial sources, use compatible stereo digital audio and a supported sample rate; the speakers are not a surround-sound decoder. Read more
