WD Black Gaming SATA Hard Drive

Give Your Game Library Room to Grow Keep the games you return to, make space for new releases and organise your media in one desktop. The WD Black Gaming SATA Hard Drive combines a performance-focused design with generous storage for gaming PCs, system builds and creative work. It is a practical choice when your collection has outgrown the space in your computer. Use it as a spacious internal drive or alongside an SSD. This lets you plan your storage around both capacity and the applications you use most. Highlights More Space for Your Collection Room for games, downloadable content, recordings and media. Conventional Magnetic Recording (CMR) across the listed capacity options. Performance Built into the Drive 7200 RPM operation, a dual-core processor and cache up to 512MB. Maximum internal read transfer rate up to 267MB/s; ratings vary by capacity. Designed for Desktop Ownership 3.5-inch SATA format for compatible desktop systems. StableTrac and Dynamic Cache Technology on 2TB and larger options, plus a five-year manufacturer limited warranty. Key Features Keep More Games and Creative Projects Within Reach A larger drive gives your installed games and their growing updates more room, while keeping space for screen recordings, photos, video footage and project files. Choose capacity around your existing collection and the room you want for future additions. Formatted usable capacity will be lower than the marketed figure. Build a Useful SSD and HDD Combination Western Digital recommends pairing WD Black HDD storage with an SSD. A practical desktop arrangement is to keep your operating system and frequently used applications on the SSD, with the hard drive providing room for the wider library. Check each game's storage requirements when deciding where to install it. 7200 RPM Performance for Desktop Storage The drive combines 7200 RPM operation with SATA connectivity for reading and moving your files. Higher-capacity options reach a maximum internal read transfer rating of 267MB/s. Actual results depend on capacity, the computer and the workload; the SATA interface rating describes the connection rather than the drive's file-transfer speed. A Dual-Core Processor and Generous Cache A dual-core drive processor handles the drive's internal processing, while DRAM cache supports data handling. The range provides up to 512MB of cache, depending on the drive version. Cache sizes differ across capacities, so choose the option that fits your storage needs and compare its relevant specifications. Cache That Responds to Reads and Writes On 2TB and larger options, Dynamic Cache Technology adjusts how cache is allocated between reading and writing. It is designed to optimise the use of the drive's buffer as those demands change, supporting the performance of a desktop that does more than simply store files. StableTrac for More Accurate Tracking StableTrac, available from 2TB upwards, supports the motor shaft to help limit the effects of vibration from other components in the system. That mechanical stability helps the drive track the intended location on the platter during reading and writing. Plan a Straightforward Desktop Upgrade Check that your computer has an available 3.5-inch mounting position, a SATA data connection and suitable SATA power before ordering. WD lists PC and Mac compatibility, with reformatting required for Mac use. Check the host system's capacity support when adding a larger drive. Five Years of Manufacturer Warranty Cover Western Digital applies extended internal testing to the WD Black family and backs these drives with a five-year limited warranty. Cover remains subject to the manufacturer's regional terms. Keep a separate backup of important files as part of your storage setup. Summary WD Black suits a desktop owner who wants room for a growing game and media collection, with 7200 RPM operation, CMR recording and a five-year manufacturer limited warranty.
