- RAID and servicing: Changing RAID configuration erases the device and its password; back up first. RAID 1 is not a substitute for a separate backup. Use supported WD replacement drives of matching type and capacity, preserve bay order and follow WD instructions. Formatting and system overhead reduce usable capacity.
