Description

Multi-gigabit connections for a compact workspace

The Ubiquiti USW-Flex-2.5G-5 expands a wired network with five 2.5GbE ports in a small desktop enclosure. It suits a home office, small business or nearby group of computers and storage devices that can benefit from faster local connections. Power the switch from a suitable PoE source or its included USB-C adapter, then manage it through UniFi Network.

Highlights

Five faster wired ports

  • Five RJ45 ports support 2.5GbE with backwards-compatible link speeds.
  • 25Gbps switching capacity and 12.5Gbps non-blocking throughput.

Flexible power input

  • One Ethernet port accepts PoE to power the switch.
  • Included 5V / 1A USB-C adapter provides an alternative power source.

Managed network control

  • VLAN support, port isolation and traffic limits for a more organised network.
  • Compact 117.1 × 90 × 21.2 mm desktop enclosure.

Key Features

Connect computers and storage at 2.5GbE

All five ports negotiate up to 2.5Gbps, allowing compatible workstations, NAS devices and the upstream network to communicate beyond Gigabit speeds. One port will normally be used for the uplink, leaving four local connections. The speed of each transfer still depends on the connected equipment, cabling and the slowest link in its path.

Choose PoE input or USB-C power

Use the PoE input when a suitable powered network connection is already available, or use the included USB-C power adapter at a desk. The PoE port receives power for this switch; the switch does not provide PoE output to cameras or access points. A device requiring PoE must have its own injector or a suitable PoE switch.

Separate and monitor wired connections

UniFi Network provides central configuration and visibility alongside other adopted UniFi equipment. VLAN support and port isolation help separate devices where required, while port mirroring assists network troubleshooting. The switch is managed equipment rather than an internet router, firewall or WiFi access point.

Control loops and excessive traffic

STP/RSTP, loop protection and storm control help manage common wired-network problems. Egress limits, multicast and broadcast rate limits, flow control and jumbo frames provide useful tuning options. Configure these to match the rest of the network instead of assuming that enabling every feature will improve every application.

Fit a small indoor installation

The 206g polycarbonate unit occupies little desk space. Plan a suitable upstream connection and leave its ports accessible for changes. Adoption requires UniFi Network 8.6.9 or later; keeping the application and switch firmware current provides the supported management features.

Summary

USW-Flex-2.5G-5 is a practical way to add a small group of 2.5GbE wired connections with UniFi management. Choose it when compact size and flexible power input matter, and provide separate PoE power for any devices that need it.

Specs

Ubiquiti USW-Flex-2.5G-5 5-Port 2.5GbE Switch

USW-Flex-2.5G-5 is a compact managed Layer 2 switch with five 2.5GbE RJ45 ports. One port can accept PoE power, while USB-C is an alternative input. Its switching figures describe wired forwarding capacity, rather than internet speed or power delivery. This model has no PoE output. It includes a 5V / 1A USB-C power adapter and requires UniFi Network for adoption and management.

Amazing quality

As expected with UniFi, the build quality is great. Honestly thought it was overkill for just a small switch I will never see once I install it, but for the price, it definitely shows your getting what you pay for.
