Dual Custom 1/1.1-Inch Square Sensors

The Insta360 X6 uses two custom 1/1.1-inch square sensors developed with Sony. The larger imaging area captures more light and image information, helping produce clearer details, improved colour and reduced noise across demanding daytime and low-light environments.

Insta360 describes this configuration as one-inch imaging because it provides a one-inch equivalent imaging area for 360° video. The physical sensor format is 1/1.1 inch for each camera.

Triple AI Processing Architecture

X6 combines an eight-core 3.3GHz processor manufactured using a 4nm process with two dedicated imaging chips. This triple-chip architecture supports image processing, noise reduction, stitching, stabilisation and intelligent editing functions.

The additional processing power helps the camera manage high-resolution 360° footage while improving image quality across changing lighting conditions.

8K50fps 360° Video

The camera records immersive 360° video at up to 8K50fps, capturing every direction without requiring the operator to keep the camera pointed directly at the subject.

The higher 50fps frame rate provides smoother motion for cycling, motorcycling, skiing, running, water sports and other fast-moving activities. It also supports two-times slow-motion playback when 50fps footage is used in a 25fps production timeline.

Actual available resolution, frame rate and recording time depend on the selected shooting mode, memory card, temperature and camera settings.

120MP 360° Photography

X6 captures panoramic photographs at up to 120MP, providing detailed images for travel, landscapes, property documentation, virtual tours and immersive visual content.

The 120MP rating refers to the completed 360° panoramic photograph. It should not be entered as 120MP per individual sensor.

10-Bit I-Log Colour

Support for 10-bit colour allows the camera to record more than 1.07 billion colours, helping produce smoother gradients and greater colour information than conventional 8-bit footage.

The I-Log profile preserves additional flexibility for colour correction and grading during post-production. It is particularly useful for professional creators who need to match footage from multiple cameras or develop a consistent visual style.

Native Dolby Vision

Dolby Vision uses dynamic metadata to optimise contrast, brightness and colour according to the content of each scene. Compatible footage can deliver richer highlights, deeper contrast and more natural colour when viewed on supported displays and platforms.

Dolby Vision availability and playback quality depend on the selected recording mode, editing workflow, application, export settings and display compatibility.

Active HDR Video

Active HDR helps balance bright highlights and darker shadow areas while maintaining stabilisation during movement. It is suitable for outdoor action, motorcycling, travel and other situations where lighting changes rapidly.

Results depend on the scene, selected mode, camera movement and available light.

PureVideo Low-Light Recording

PureVideo uses AI-assisted processing to reduce noise and improve clarity in dim environments. It is designed for evening streets, indoor venues, night rides, events and other scenes where conventional action cameras may struggle to retain detail.

PureVideo supports 360° recording at up to 8K30fps. Available performance depends on lighting, movement, exposure settings and the intended export resolution.

Shoot First and Reframe Later

Because X6 records every direction, creators can concentrate on the activity without continuously adjusting the camera angle. The viewing direction, aspect ratio and field of view can be selected afterwards using compatible Insta360 editing tools.

The same recording can be reframed into horizontal, vertical, square or portrait videos for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and other platforms.

InstaFrame 2.0

InstaFrame 2.0 provides a ready-to-share flat video while retaining 360° footage for later reframing. This gives creators a quicker file for immediate use while preserving the flexibility to produce additional angles from the original recording.

Available modes, resolutions and editing options depend on the selected camera and application settings.

Invisible Selfie Stick Effect

When a compatible Insta360 selfie stick is positioned correctly, the camera’s stitching system removes it from the completed 360° footage. This creates floating-camera, third-person and drone-like viewing angles without requiring an actual drone.

The selfie stick is sold separately with the Standard Bundle and included with selected bundles.

AI Director and Auto Edit 2.0

The Insta360 in-house AI model can analyse compatible 360° footage and help locate useful moments, select viewing angles, match music and apply transitions.

AI Director assists with identifying suitable perspectives, while Auto Edit 2.0 can assemble selected clips into a ready-to-share video. Creators can accept the automated result or continue editing manually.

AI editing capabilities may vary according to the Insta360 application version, mobile device, operating system and available processing resources.

FlowState Stabilisation and 360° Horizon Lock

FlowState Stabilisation reduces camera shake during walking, running, riding and other moving activities. Because the camera records a complete spherical view, 360° Horizon Lock can keep the exported horizon level even when the camera rotates completely.

Stabilisation performance depends on the shooting mode, camera placement, movement and editing settings.

Replaceable Lenses 2.0

The Replaceable Lenses 2.0 system allows damaged outer lens components to be replaced without sending the complete camera away for routine lens replacement.

The updated design is intended to provide improved scratch resistance and easier installation. Replacement lens kits are sold separately and must be fitted according to Insta360’s instructions.

Waterproof to 20 Metres

The Insta360 X6 has an IP68 waterproof design and can be used underwater to a depth of 20 metres without an additional dive case.

All covers, seals and locking mechanisms must be properly closed before the camera is exposed to water. An appropriate Insta360 dive case should be used for deeper diving or where improved underwater stitching is required.

Up to 140 Minutes of 8K Recording

The battery provides up to approximately 140 minutes of continuous 8K30fps 360° recording under Insta360’s specified laboratory conditions.

Actual operating time varies with resolution, frame rate, temperature, screen use, wireless connections, stabilisation, editing functions and battery condition.

Single-Lens Shooting

X6 can also operate as a conventional wide-angle action camera using one lens. Single-Lens Mode supports up to 5K60fps video, while 4K120fps recording provides high-frame-rate footage for slow-motion action sequences.

This allows the camera to serve as both a 360° camera and a conventional wide-angle video camera.

Wind-Protected 360° Audio

Integrated microphones capture sound from around the camera, while wind-protection measures help reduce unwanted noise during outdoor recording.

Audio quality depends on wind speed, camera placement, mounting method, waterproof accessories and the distance between the camera and sound source.
